Celebrant led funeral ceremonies focus on the wishes, values and beliefs of the person who has passed and their families, rather than the beliefs or faith of the person leading the service. As such, these ceremonies tend to be non-religious, although they may have some religious or spiritual elements. As a funeral celebrant, I will help with planning and organising a funeral, memorial service and the celebration of the person’s life, providing guidance and advice around all elements of the ceremony and will officiate, or lead, the service on the day.

I will spend time with the family, getting to know a bit about the life and character of the person who has passed. I will help to clarify the family’s wishes and will explain all of the possible elements of the service, my main focus will be on creating a service that meets the needs and wishes of the bereaved and that reflects the personality of the deceased. Emphasis may be on more of a ‘celebration of life’ and generally allows far greater flexibility in style and content than a traditional, religious funeral service.

Before booking, let’s chat! I’d love to hear more about your celebration and what you are looking for from your celebrant. If you decide that I am the perfect celebrant for your day and want to go ahead and book me, I take a 50% deposit. I’ll then send you a contract so we have an agreement in writing.

Let’s meet

Next I’ll send you some questions to help me build a picture up of the person that has passed. After this, we’ll arrange a meeting shortly before the service, so that I can make sure I have everything I need.

Then it’s over to me to create a beautiful, personalised service, one which captures the personality and uniqueness of the deceased. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to make edits and suggestions. We’ll work on it until you’re completely happy that it’s right.

Let’s go

On the day of the service I’ll arrive early so I have time to meet everyone directly involved in the ceremony, and to explain how the service will run. I will then conduct a personal ceremony, celebrating the life of our loved one.
