Grief Mandala Ritual

Grief is one of those painful feelings we wish to avoid, yet it arrives at our doorstep many times over a lifetime in the form of unexpected life changes, illness, the death of someone we care for and other countless experiences. In some way it is a mark of the preciousness of what we did have and deserves to be acknowledged and felt. Without it we are turning away from the frailty of our human experience and closing our hearts.

Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘whole world’, ‘sacred circle’ or ‘magic circle’. Mandala-making is used for insight , healing and self-expression. Making and filling-in a circular design with colours, images, shapes and symbols, reflects the wholeness of the person creating it and provides a pathway of connection with the intuitive and unconscious parts of ourselves where insight and deeper understanding reside. The practice of drawing a mandala does not require artistic skill or experience – only a desire to learn more about what is going on inside of us as we move forward through loss and grief.

I can guide you through the process of creating a grief mandala to help process our thoughts at this difficult time.

Let’s chat

Before booking, let’s chat! I’d love to discuss more about conducting a grief mandala with you. If you decide that I am the perfect celebrant to guide you through this ritual and want to go ahead and book me, I take a 50% deposit. I’ll then send you a contract so we have an agreement in writing.

Let’s get to know one another

Next I’ll send you a few questions to think about, so I can really understand what it is you want to achieve from creating your grief mandala.

Then it’s over to me to write a beautiful, personalised script, so that we can then create your grief mandala. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to make edits and suggestions. We’ll work on it until you’re completely happy that it’s right.

Let’s go

We will meet at a place that is best for yourself and then we will create a beautiful grief mandala together.
